Our grapple is equipped with a piston motor and planetary gearbox as opposed to a gerotor motor. A piston motor has a higher volumetric efficiency (typically more than 95%), while a gerotor has a lower volumetric efficiency (less than 90%). This low efficiency is due to the internal leakage between the gerotor gears, particularly at a low RPM, causing the grapple to drift and becomes jerky and difficult to control.
Our rotator requires 20.5 gpm only as opposed to a gerotor motors' 28 gpm for same speed (10 RPM) and torque (258000 in-lb).
